Make sure you take the complementary course at the end of this short read and learn how you can prioritize your time more effectively. How many times a day do you hear someone say, “I wish I had more time”? Is there such a thing as getting more time? You can not buy it nor make more of it. To further complicate it, you never really know how much you are going to have. This leads us to the reality that we need to view our time in a special way. Time is our most valuable asset.
We live in an increasingly fast pace and complex world. Information and distractions come at us from so many directions at such high volumes you can literally spend half your time filtering and processing everything. When you are spending excessive time reacting, you are losing control and become less productive.
It is well documented that if you master your time, you will be happier, healthier, wealthier, more successful, live longer and have more free time to do whatever you want. Learn to treat time like its value is greater than 18 karat gold or flawless diamonds and it will change your life!
You can view time in many increments. You can plan your time as far out as you wish, but the reality is you can only control what is the closest to you (like the money in your wallet or checking account).
Learn to view weeks, months and future increments of time as milestone markers for goals and objectives you seek. Manage each day by focusing on a small number of high-impact activities (habits) that are designed to accomplish your long-term big goals. Big goals are accomplished by completing small daily activities while keeping the end in mind. This is what keeps you focused and avoiding getting stuck or worse, quitting altogether.
The journey to achieving more has only one route and it always takes you through “one day at a time”.
Start your day by planning (like budgeting money). Do it before you turn on the TV, computer, phone or radio. Avoid checking messages of any type. Segment your day by type of activity and its priority. Using a calendar, manual list or an app is a great way to keep track of task for your day.
Be clear and deliberate in managing your time and never lose focus on your long-term goals and objectives. Learning to manage and value your time requires an intentional level of discipline. One common piece advice offered by most successful people they learn how to say NO to anything that is not aligned with their goals and objectives.
